Flash Fiction: The Jeans

The prompt was to tell a story in 100 words or less using the words "denim" or "jeans".

She thought the jeans would help her blend in. She should’ve ditched the heels as well. She walked about, towering over all the other girls, until she saw some nostalgic game of thirteen or BS at a table. One of the players looked at her sidelong, his hair in his eyes.

“Wanna play?”

Startled, she turned about to make a run for it.

“Those jeans,” he said, shaking his head sadly. “They’re worse than a short skirt.”

She turned back, a flurry of words on her tongue ready to burst forth–

But he was smiling.

“Ok, deal me in.”
